| Use right size boxes |
First things first, the basics. Its a good idea to put heavy items in smaller boxes and lighter items (for example a pillow) in larger boxes. this is to make the boxes easy to carry. |

| Put heavier items on the bottoms of boxes, lighter items on top |
| And for balance, place heavy boxes at the front of the truck (if you are loading the truck yourself) and lighter boxes at the back of the truck. |

| Don’t leave empty spaces in the boxes |

| |
| Its best to fill your boxes as much as you can. Movers wont often move boxes that don't feel filled or unbalanced. We recommend filling gaps with towels, packing paper or clothing. |

| Avoid mixing items from different rooms in the same box |
| This is a good way to make your packing easier and it will also make your unpacking easier too. |

| Label each box with the room it’s destined for and a description of its contents |

| If you label the boxes, you and your movers will find it easier to know where each box is supposed to go in your new home. Writing numbers on each box and keeping a list in a note pad is a great way to keep track of what you’ve packed also its a good way to make sure you still have everything when you unpack. |

| Tape boxes well |

| For the bottom and the top seams, all we recommend doing is using a couple pieces of tape to the top and bottom seams. Then make a couple of wraps all the way around the box’s top and bottom edges, where stress is concentrated. |

| If you’re moving expensive art, ask your mover about special crating |
| |
| If you have oil paintings, never wrap them in normal paper, it will stick. For pictures framed behind glass, make an X with masking tape across the glass to strengthen it and to hold it together if it shatters. After this wrap the pictures in bubble wrap and if not that, paper. Then put them in a frame box, with a piece of cardboard between each framed piece for protection. |

| Bundle breakables |

| When you come to pack your dishes/crockery, put paper around each one, next wrap bundles of four or five together with more paper. Pack dishes on their sides, never flat. And use lots of bunched-up paper as padding above and below. Cups and bowls can be placed inside one another, with paper in between, and wrapped three or four in a bundle. Pack them all in dish-barrel boxes. |

| Consider other items that will need special treatment |

| Treat TVs like any other piece of furniture, we recommend wrapping them in quilted furniture pads.
If you own a plasma TV you should use special crates for moving if you don’t have the original box. Plasma screens can be ruined if you lay them flat. So If you’re packing yourself, double-box your TV, setting the box containing the TV into another box that you’ve padded with paper. |
